Spring Drama Class 2010

(The Spring 2010 drama class will be listed as Acting I, II, III, or IV depending upon the student's previous classes in this area.

Who: Open to both NCCS students and non-NCCS students, as well as adults; : please note that there are no speaking parts for students under grade 8, and no parts for students in grades K-6. This is due to the available roles in this play. People may participate in the program without taking it as a class and without being a member of NCCS.
Students must be willing to learn & to perform as a group (in pairs) dances from the 1950's. Students will audition at the January 14 meeting for acting roles, singing roles, and dancing roles. See bottom for audition information.
What: A one-half credit class counting toward graduation in the Performing Arts category. We will be doing the dinner theater play, Uncle Phil's Diner, which is an interactive comdey set in about 1956. There is dancing and singing as well as the acting involved in this play.
When: Sign up deadline for the class is December 15th and will be limited in size, so sign up early. The schedule for rehearsals and performances and other class meetings is as follows. Please verify on your calendar that you will be available for these dates:

- There will also be one Sunday stage setup (April 25), and
- Saturday, May 1st will be a clean up day from 9 am to 10:30 am; students receiving credit for graduation must attend this day.
- PLEASE NOTE: Students are expected to attend all these meetings, although family approved events are excused for a maximum of 2 times (not performances, setups, and cleanups). Students must give 2 weeks notice that they will miss for a family approved event.
Parents should arrange to promptly pick up students from the class. Students are expected to make all rehearsals, unless ill.
Each unexcused absence will cause a student to lose 5 points on their final grade.

Why: Because we like it, or we need the graduation credits.
Cost:
NCCS Students - $40 for NCCS students
Non-NCCS students for credit - $75
Students not for credit - no cost, except your time and energy
Adults - no cost, except your time and energy
Fee must be paid by February 1st, and will go to cover some of the expenses of the play. Cost can be paid in installments as long as the last installment is paid by February 1st.

Students: Please fill out the standard class enrollment form (see home page of website) and either mail it in, bring it in, or FAX it in to 724-6932. Make checks payable to "NCCS." Cost can be paid in installments as long as the last installment is paid by February 1st.

General Audition Info - Will be held January 14; those who cannot make a January 14 audition can email the director for additional information.
Singing - will do an a capella version of When You Wish Upon a Star
Acting - Bring a monologue of your choice of about 2-3 minutes. You will be judged on voice tone, voice levels, enunciation, use of gestures, and delivery of lines. You do not need to memorize the piece; however, that WILL get you extra points. You are not expected to be perfect; this is a class in acting. Please also bring a typed list of your previous acting experience, and be prepared to tell us which roles you would prefer.
